1. What is the Matrix Investor Database?

This is a unique source of wealthy private investors in the UK. The Matrix Investor Database provides financial intelligence on over 2.5 million affluent individuals and offers a varied, flexible and responsive database for prospect mailing or data enhancement.

2. How does Matrix gather the information?

The database has been compiled over the past 20 years through bespoke research, with many of the individuals unlikely to feature in any other data sources. This makes the Matrix Investor Database one of the best sources of serious investors in the UK.

Share Registers: The main source of information is share registers such as Computershare, Capita and Equiniti. This allows us to see which companies the individuals within the data have purchased shares from, which indices they have purchased from (e.g. FTSE 100, AIM, FTSE4Good) and whether they have purchased any other financial products, e.g. Investment Trusts, VCTs, etc.

Experian: As a partner of Experian, we are able to match our entire database against their profiling variables in order to build up a full image of these investors. Our Experian partnership gives us intelligence such as an investor's house value, their age, any directorships, their estimated income and a great deal of additional information.

Research: We have a dedicated team of 20 market researchers based in our Wokingham office. Their goal is to ensure all database information held at Matrix Solutions is as up-to-date as possible.

3. Who would use the MID?

The MID has a number of distinct client groups:

1) Our core client base is made up of marketing personnel from investment companies who are looking to promote their financial products directly to investors in the market. As Matrix holds the contact details of every VCT investor in the UK, many asset management companies come to Matrix Solutions looking to promote new VCT products in the run-up to the end of the financial year.

2) Our secondary client base comprises of marketing companies and list-brokers who will licence data from us on behalf of their own varied clients. The fact that we appeal to this user-base is what demonstrates our industry-leading status as the investor data specialists chosen by the marketing industry itself.

3) Our tertiary client base includes charities and luxury goods companies, such as high end travel agents, antiques dealers, and also many British film companies looking for investment.

4. How can the intelligence in the MID be used to help my organisation?

Every record within our database of almost three million high net worth individuals contains 10 primary attributes. This allows you to help you segment and profile your audience for marketing purposes and lies at the heart of why our database has helped to raise over £10bn in new investment over the last 20 years. Attributes include:

- Wealth bands and profiles (from £1000 - £1 million +)

- Investment types (e.g. VCT, EIS, AIM Investment trust)

a. Wealth Tagging

Service: This is a quick and simple matching service to identify wealthy individuals in your own CRM and client data. If any of your clients or prospects are amongst the two million individuals we classify as High Net Worth then we'll tag the record and return it to you so that you can use the attribute as a filter for your own targeted marketing activities. We can provide a data mining consultation service which will provide further explanation of the tagged records so that you can conduct further analysis without requiring data mining software skills.

b. Client Profiling

Service: Once you've used our wealth tagging service, you might be interested in comparing the profiles of your clients that appear in our database with the rest of the High Net Worth population. Typically this will identify clusters of attributes within your highest value customers that can be used to determine your best prospects. Whilst this can help to focus your marketing budget on relevant communications to this audience, it can also help you decide whether to purchase additional data from our database to increase your sales pipeline.

c. Direct Mailing Lists

Service: As mentioned above, you may have found specific attributes amongst your existing client set which can be used to purchase additional prospect data. Our data can be purchased using a number of variables to help ensure that you're buying the most effective prospects.

d. Event Invitation Lists

Services: Client prospect data can be purchased to match specific criteria set by you and supplied as an event invitation list.
